Now Prof/Dr Watson has decided that this is a good time to resign from his position at the lab. Does this mean that he will no longer be making the news? I doubt it.

Good riddance. I rather suspect the decision was made for him, rather than by him, and he's just trying to put a better face on it.
And I agree with your observation that if anyone goes through Watson's genome looking for autism genes, they're likely to find more than a few.
The trouble with the idea of looking for "genes for" things in a person's genome is that now the scientists are telling us that epigenetics is also important. I believe there is now some human epigenome project, just when the boffins thought they had all the answers at their fingertips.
