Lili's offspring's thought for the day

Why can't we ditch him and get air-conditioning?

- Lili's teen child in a discussion about the varied and numerous sources of funding for the teen's high school's chaplain, in a city in which summer temperatures often go above 40 degrees Celsius

I think kids can get by without AC more easily than can grownups. I attended school in Southern Florida in the fifties and sixties with no air conditioning, and was mostly comfortable, if sometimes slightly sweaty.

Now than I've turned 60, I've noticed that my body's temperature regulation has just gone all to hell. I sweat like you wouldn't believe on a slow walk to the grocery store, and sometimes I feel cold at night and get an extra blanket when the temp drops below 74 Fahrenheit.

Sweaty teenagers just can't be a good thing.

I think there could be a link between poor temperature regulation and age. Over here you would be eligible for subsidized power.
